Why We use Portable Dams for Flood Protection?

Portable dams are mainly designed and establish for flood protection. It is also known as aqua dams. These dams are temporary dams which are used for flood protection. These types of Aqua dams are re-usable. These types of dams are filled with on-site water and that can be installed to control, contain or diverted the flow of water. Aqua Dams consist of two basic components that are two watertight inner polyethylene tubes which contain the water, and an outer or "master tube". 


Aqua dams are coming in different varieties of sizes from 1 to 16 feet in height. It also comes in standard lengths of 50/100 feet. Best Portable Dams are available with notice in any shorter, irregular or longer length. The length of the aqua dams is fabricated. There are various techniques which are used for the aqua dams like:

·         Rope deployment
·         River depth Increase
·         Flume pipes
·         Curves
·         Claiming Dams
·         Parallel to bank


These types of methods are time consuming, environment friendly, expensive, etc. because of the use of heavy material & equipments. Aqua dams are long lasting, durable in nature, but only with the proper installation. These types of dams are stored and use again & again in future for flood protection. Replacement of the inner tubes of dams is easily done with repairing. Aqua Dams are easy to install and it requires only a pair of portable pumps, supply of on-site water and labor which are depending on the size of aqua dams. Aqua dams are best as compared to sandbags because sandbag requires lots of labor, cost, time, etc. and also sand bags are not re useable for future. It is helpful to protect the homes, valleys, hotels, etc. from the flood.
